Listen to Twelfth Day:

Northern Quarter

Jamie

Mistress Mine

Twelfth Day’s debut album Northern Quarter was written in Manchester where Esther and Catriona were students for four years.

The Northern Quarter is an area unlike any other in Manchester. Styles and subcultures, from vintage to punk to goth, dominate the creative landscape, feeding the city’s distinctive DIY cultural scene for students, visitors and residents alike. The Northern Quarter, and its institutions and people, have influenced the unique sound world of Twelfth Day.

In 2012, Twelfth Day collaborated with Gaelic singer Joy Dunlop to create Fiere, an album exploring the lives, loves and experiences of women in Scotland. using poems by female Scottish writers, Twelfth Day and Joy Dunlop create a collection of new songs, in English, Scots and Gaelic, celebrating the creative output of Scottish women through fresh and innovative compositions.

Speak From The Start is Twelfth Day’s new EP of cover songs.

The idea for the EP came back in 2010 when BBC Radio Manchester asked the girls to cover Morrisey’s You’re The One For Me Fatty as part of its 40th birthday celebrations. Having enjoyed the process of covering the song so much, they decided to make a whole EP of cover songs. As well as the Morrissey track, Twelfth Day cover songs by Blondie, Kanye West, Passion Pit and Twin Atlantic.
